Explanation / Answer
Some of the misconceptions of Data mining are:
It is an algorithm:
We think it is a complex algorithm need to be processed by experts. But actually it is not the case it has few factors or elements like mapping mining goals to business goals, understanding and pre-processing data etc.
It has to be done by data scientists and big data people:
That is not the case it can be done by anybody who are efficient in use of the data mining tool can get the good result back.
Can predict accurate result:
Some people think that using the data mining techniques one can earn millions in stock market but that are not the case, there is always some factors that are not predictable will make you loss.
Data mining tools are fast and accurate:
We think these tools acts on our data and predict the results very fast but that is not possible here. It is a longest process needs many data managers sit together for long time and process it to make it reasonable result.
Negative results:
From my experience I was working as a big data developing engineer where I was given a sales report for 10 years of a car company. And asked to predict it future, I have analysed some of the factors affecting the car sales and predicted a final result using bars and graph but that is not the case actually.
That year there was heavy drought in the country that leads to dip in the sales heavily, so there are numerous factors that affect the output and we cannot consider them all easily.
