The advent of laptop computers and the mobile devices has affected the desktop computers market. People nowadays for many cases are more comfortable with the compact version of laptop or mobile computer rather than a desktop which is bulkier and not portable. Now, it maybe bulky and not portable but still desktop computers are preferred in many cases where power and cost matters to the user. There are thus many cases where desktop computers are preferred more than laptops, such scenarios are;
a) Cost of the laptop computer with similar specifications is much higher than the laptop computers, so for a cost sensitive user, one may go to buy desktop than laptop.
b) Spare parts of a desktop are easily assembled into the desktop computer and is much cheaper than that of laptop computers.
c) Desktop processors are bigger in size and thus everything about desktop is a little more powerful than laptop computers and this make desktops more reliable for development and processor intensive works.
d) Keyboards and other hardware of desktop computer are much more featureful and can be replace easily once they go out of order, which for laptops is a problem and laptops have restricted access to hardware.
e) Screen size of the Desktop is much higher and also have multi displays, rather than single small display of a laptop computer, thus user requiring bigger and larger displays can go for desktops.
f) Gamers and power users who do a lot of video graphics work and also do processor intensive work, should go for desktops as they are much more reliable than laptops for this kind of a setup.
