Q4) What is the main difference between a ripple counter and a parallel counter?

Answer)

A ripple counter is also known as an asynchronous counter. Here the flip-flop is clocked by the external clock only once in an operation time, after that the output of the first flip-flop drives into the input of the second flip-flop and so on after that. A parallel counter is where the flip-flop are clocked simultaneously and thus are also known as Synchronous Counter. There is no connection between the first and the next and all the flip-flops. Speed of the parallel counter is high while speed of the ripple counter is low.
