Microsoft's Dynamic Access Control is a brand new feature implemented in Windows Server 2012. Dynamic Access Control or DAC is a data administration and management tool in Windows Server 2012 that allows the administrator to control the access of files. It uses different centralized policies based on which the administrator decides which user can access which file. This Dynamic Access Control is a new access control model which can be viewd as an extension of Windows Server 8 access control model.
In Windows Server 8 access control model, claims is used as active directory attribute. It had been used with central access policies. But, Dynamic Access Control (DAC) is much more advanced feature in Windows Server 2012. It uses claims and resource properties to allow the administrators to develop access and authorization rules based on different condition logic.
Dynamic Access Control (DAC) would satisfy the needs of government organizations to tightly control the access to senstive information. DAC will not replace any of the existing file system permission, it simply adds an additional security layer to the existing policy of file sharing. It is centrally created and then applied to all of the file servers in the domain for more safety. Using DAC data can be tagged with different classifications. Using DAC system administrators can apply additional protections to the Microsoft Office files with Rights Management Services (RMS). DAC imroves the authorization and authentication by applying improved security and auditing policies and in Active Directory.
