Relationship between Data Mining and Data Visualization:
Data Warehousing is used for storing, and the process of extracting the required data is called as Data Mining. Storing is warehousing and extraction is mining. These two branches of data science have their own functionality. There will be many data and information that is been stored, but which data are we interested in? and how to extract only that particular data comes under the process of Data Mining. On the other hand Data Visulaization is same to Data Mining in the way, they both are used for extracting some required information. But Data Visualization differs from data mining in the way that they give clear view of data, that is easily understood for examples figures, diagrams. In short Data Visualization provides view of data through pictoral representation. Data Visualization can be used to decision making purpose, whereas Data mining deals with getting the required information through the use of many algorithm, which increases its complexity. Since Data Visualization are used for pictoral representation, they don't need any algorithms.
What security issues are associated with data visualization?
Security is a matter of concern whenever we talk about data. If we talk about Data Visualization, the same security issues are associated that are related to data security. If we talk about data, what are the security concerns?
We don't want to share the confidential information with anyone.
Keeping the data related to clients and customer secured and protected, so that it cannot be damaged, or accessed by someone else.
Also we try to protect our assets and computers from external attack for which we use firewalls.
We don't want third party to access our servers and hack the confidential information. Third party can interpret the data fraudently and use it against us.
Email spoofing, Trojan horses and different viruses can be used to harm the computers and corrupt the data.
What might happen to a data visualization project if it failed to cleanse or scrub its data?
The primary motive of data visualization is to provide clear and efficient view of data. That is clearly understood and henceforth they are used for decision making process. Ultimately data visualization extracts the data from warehouse and presents the most relevant data in numerical and pictoral form. So basically it undergoes a number of process which also includes Cleansing and Scrubbing part. The name itself says cleansing means it is used for removal of duplicate data, in appropriate data and scrubbing means they are used for presenting the appropriate and correct data. So if the data visualization project failed to cleanse and scrub, the main purpose of data visualization to correlate the data will not be possible. They will not be able to take proper decision which could even affect their image and also will be difficult to maintain the relationships with the client.
Why do IT departments like data warehouses?
The main part of data warehouse is preserving the data in proper format from different places. For example in technical terms we might retrieve the records from Oracle, SQL Server, Microsoft Access which will be in different format. But accessing the records from different places and preserving them in proper format is important. Because the data that is preserved can be used reference purpose by buisness analyst, management team in future. IT Departments like sata warehouses because they help them to store the records in proper way so that it becomes esay for them to access and retieve those data efficintly through data mining process. Storing and Retieving the data help them to reduce their time, because they dont need to create the data all over again. It also helps them to retieve the data much faster in couple of seconds rather than the one they used to maintain in the paper files. In short, it is a repository for IT people. It unburdens the IT department.
Why do users like them?
Users like them because they get the answers to their question quickly. For example if we use any search engine(Google) it gives us all the related information and links. The place from where we are extracting the answers is nothing but the Servers, and they are called as servers because they have database (a datawarehouse) where all the information is stored. User like them because it also helps them in accessing the correct data and also it allows them to filter the questions. It increases the readibility and accuracy of data.
What's the difference between a data warehouse and a data mart?
Data Mart comes under Data Warehouse. Or we can say its a small part of Data Warehouse. Let me explain these with an example, Let us consider any Company, as we all know a company can have diffierent departments and different products. If we say data warehouse of a company, which means it will store all the information regarding clients, customers, products, employees, vendors, and agencies everything means every little information. But these information is categorized according to their functionality. We can consider a product and all the information related to it as a data mart. So in these way we may have many data marts. Data Mart is a subset of Data Warehouse, which helps in reducing the complexity. In short Data Mart can be used for specific buisness functionality.
