For windows7/XP steps are as follows :

click start menu –> right-click computer –> click manage –> click device manager –> open DVD/CD –ROM drives –> double-click the name of the optical drive –> click driver tab

We would ask him if Windows 7 is recognizing the media card reader or not. If this is the case then he can turn off the windows and the card reader. Then turn on the windows again and wait about five minutes and turn it off once again. Now connect the media card reader and turn the windows on.

The problem could be with the driver he installed. Either he downloaded and installed it from an unknown third party source which was probably fake and spam. One other reason could be he didn’t install the drivers properly
