Data integrity is the accurateness and consistency of the data stored in the database and the validity and the security of the data in its entire life cycle. As a data analytics professional, dealing with data should be daily and regular activity. We can work to ensure the integrity of the data we are presenting and specific strategies you can use to frame and present the data so that they are truly representative of the content. Some of the processes to ensure data integrity by a data analytics professional would be to:
a) Enable Data encryption for security of the data in the storage and during transfers.
b) Backing up data in an alternate location which can be sued in case of a disaster.
c) Access controls for users to modify and access the data
d) Validation of the inputs from the users in case of modifying, entering or updating the data
e) Validation of the data from time to time to make sure data is uncorrupted.
The role of critical thinking and ethics in relation to how analytics professionals interact with the data they are charged with overseeing is very important and necessary as the overseeing of the data is the responsibility of the data analytics professional. Thus all the enterprise and business data will be at his purview and he can access and also control what other users do to the data. Thus, ethics are also important to do what's right and also without damaging or harming the application's working and the company business.
