The networking team is seeing slowdown in the network as individual are streaming games, YouTube Videos and even live TV.

Social Media is Beneficial to Employees in many ways and Should Be Used in Moderation. While the Upper management maintains and believes that the pervasive social media is wasting productivity time by distracting employees from getting real work done. But on the other hand the Proponents of social media are saying that this networking is helping them to solve problems, promote professional organizations and gives employees needed mental breaks throughout the day. The networking team is seeing slowdown in the network as individual are streaming games, YouTube Videos and even live TV and maybe is affecting the work network. Thus we can see that there is a problem between using and not using the social media.

We should know this that nowadays everybody is connected to the internet and in turn connected and online to the internet using the devices such as mobiles and computers. Thus we cannot control what employees may do with their personal devices at the work place. what we can restrict is the use of the computers and the office resources to connect and used to the internetwork and accessing streaming and entertainment channels such as YouTube and others which are slowing the network down. Thus there will be restrictions imposed on using the company resources for accessing the social media or it will be time bound on the company resources.

There are several benefits of Social Media and is Beneficial to Employees in many ways and Should Be Used in Moderation. Some of the benefits are:

a) Allows the employees to take a mental break from the hectic work schedule and maintain their mental balance on and off the work.

b) Enables the employees to make and support professional connections between organizations, connecting through friends and families and thus creating an inter-organizational culture.

c) Employees can ask questions on the social network to their buddies and get quick solution on some work related problem they are facing; thus this improves delivery.

d) This also strengthens and builds personal bonds with colleagues.

e) Social network usage is one of the main reasons for employee recognition and retention

f) Ultimately, using social network at the workplace improves the productivity as it will ultimately lead to happy employee and good productivity will lead to happy employers.
