Recently Facebook faced a major issue when over a half million people in India
got affected by the illegal sharing of data mined through its platform by a
Cambridge University reearcher, whose application on the social network was
doenloaded by 335 users.There were lots of notices from the indian government
to the comany. The company has informed that a total of 562,455 people in India
were potentially affected by the unauthorized sharing of data mines by researcher
Aleksandr Kogan with UK based Cambridge Analytica.The company has now come up with
range of security features after the incident as many countries are undergoing elections and this data is sensitive.
The way company has handled it seems quite OK as now the concerns have been
brought down and there is no more crying on the data loss.As soon as the incident
got spotted the company immediatly took required steps, did required communication
with the governments of the concerned countries and brought down the issue amicably.
