Hurricane Harvey a category 4 storm hit Texas on 25th August 20117. Due to its intensity and severity it was regarded as sibling of deadly Hurricane Katrina. The destructiveness of the storm can be assessed from the impact it left on the life of people by wiping out property valuable items worth $ 124 bn. The storm made three times landfall in 6days each time increasing the intensity of the storm. Two feet of rain fell in the street in the first 24 hours.39,000 people forced out of the home , affected 13 million people from the state of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Kentucky and claimed 82 lives.
The major stakeholder due to Hurricane Harvey are the federal, states and local governments. All the resident of the storm hit area, business houses, civil society etc. A national emergency kind of situation arises in these affected area to restore the normal life of the people.
We should salute to the rescue team who worked tirelessly to evacuate the stranded people, running relief camp, restoring life and infrastructure in the affected area quickly. It was through sheer coordination and cooperation between different agency which successfully completed the operation.
