Question

Section one: single selection (circle the most approprllu UT (15 marks, 3 marks for each) 1. How many codes can be represented using ASCII standard? d) 512 c) 256 b) 128 2. The range of intensity for an image should be a)from 0 to 128 b) from 0 to 256 c) from 0 to 127 d) from 0 to 255 3. In the digitization of image, if use 6 bits to quantize intensity, how many gray levels will be got? a) 32 b) 64 c) 128 d) 256 4fllowing ts of video, which one uses only one signal? ) composite video b) S-video ) component video d) PAL video 5. What is the frequency band of FM radio? )200Hz-3400Hz b) 100Hz- 5500Hz c) 20Hz-11000Hz d) 5Hz-20KHz Section two: Short-answer questions (25 marks) (5 marks) There are three kinds of broadcast video system, NTSC, PAL system use Y1Q color model, PAL system and NTSC system use SECAM, NTSC Yuv color model, why these systems do not use RGB color m odel?

Explanation / Answer

SECTION:- ONE: SOLUTION:-

1:- (B) 128

Reason:- ASCII is 7-bit i.e. 27 =128 characters 7-bit coding scheme will represent 27=128 codes.

2:- (D) from 0 to 255

3:- (B) 64

Reason:- 6-bit quantization 26=64 gray levels ( 0 Black and 63 White)

4:- (A) Composite Video

Reason:- it is having only one channel for analog video transmission without audio with resolution of 480 i or 576 i.

5:- (C) 20Hz-11000Hz

Reason:- Here option C will lie in the range of frequencies 20Hz-20000Hz defined for humans.

SECTION:- TWO: SOLUTION:-

1:- RGB color model is not very efficient for operation with real world images via NTSC,PAL,SECAM,NTSC system because RGB color model uses 3 times the required bandwidth although NTSC,PAL,SECAM,NTSC system extracts color into original monochromatic bandwidth of channel.RGB components requires equals bandwidth in order to produce any color in RGB pipe so by this operation frame buffer having same pixel depth along with display resolution of RED,GREEN and BLUE component. Example: RGB values should be accepted from frame buffer in order to convert the intensity of a pixel and after the conversion is done then new RGB values counted and writes back to frame buffer. The picture that is saved directly in intensity and color format granted for access by the system then processing iterations should be intense. For all these reasons NTSC system uses YIQ color model, PAL system and NTSC system uses YUV color model and do not use RGB color model.
