Current issues regarding HIPAA, SOX

From the beginning of each financial year of an IT firm, the security administrators usually make some calculations regarding cyber attack and other security breaches. Now-a-days, hackers are using malwares and other viruses that can be an emerging concern for the IT organizations. Organizations must conduct internal audits to get an idea about their situations. HIPAA, SOX usually receives heightened awareness and issues to HIPAA and SOX will turn on the internal audit committees to work on security and doing regular audits to find out the loopholes. HIPAA generally looks for username and the password and then authenticate it. And SOX looks about history it usually focusses on how the data of the user is being entered and stored. So, both HIPAA and SOX audits needs to be done on a regular basis so that user’s data must be secured.

Issues regarding HIPAA and SOX

Eradicating the issues

Changing the password of the Active Directory user on a regular basis. According to HIPAA and SOX auditing rule, the password must be a complicated password and which needs to be changed within every 60 days. The same password can’t be used for some limited times. This can reduce data leakage or data breaching. Deploying Bug fixation and other patches on the software can also reduce the vulnerability. The software needs to be updated on a regular basis and that should be managed by the IT organizations who is maintaining the applications. The IT firms should use private cloud in their infrastructure so that their data remain safe. Moreover, these IT industries must security Policies on Active Directory objects and that needs to be implemented on the domain. Furthermore, auditing teams must prevent their critical data by making it password protected. This way HIPAA and SOX issues can be solved in an Active Directory Domain.
