Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Services (GCS) are three well-known organisations that offer cloud solutions. Compare the cloud-related commercial offerings of these three companies, in terms of functionality, performance, scalability, degree of standardisation, ease of use, costs and any other characteristics you find relevant. You should do this by accessing and reviewing the information available on their respective websites. Make a recommendation, on the basis of your comparative assessment, as to which of the three commercial cloud services offerings would be preferred for migrating the airline’s legacy computer system to a cloud-based scheme.

Comparison Between AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Services

Now-a-days, with the improvement of technology, users are now moving to cloud rather than depending on the physical resources. Three most popular clouds which every IT company is now shifting to are: AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google cloud services. AWS is the cloud service provider from Amazon that gained a lot of popularity among IT firms. It is really difficult to say which service provider is good as they nearly provide same type of services and features. AWS is the first service cloud provider which introduced IaaS. But now AWS is more focused on Platform as a Service, whereas Microsoft Azure and Google cloud is more focused on IaaS. Based on Compute Power, Performance, scalability, price and degree of standardization, we can compare AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Services.

1) Computation Power

Amazon Web Services provides instances which is known as EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) and that can be scalable on demand. Whereas, Google provide Compute Engine and azure provides Virtual Cloud. EC2 is no doubt the best of the lot but the cost is much more as compared to the other cloud service provider. But Google compute engine is less flexible. All these cloud service providers provide docker facility to their customer.

2) Storage

Storage is another basic criterion for comparison of cloud. Amazon uses S3 (Simple Storage Cloud) which is being quite popular. Microsoft Azure as well as google cloud provide almost same type of services. But resources in these two are not expensive as compared to Amazon. The archiving storage service by Amazon, GCP and Azure are Glacier, Cloud Storage Nearline and Azure Backup. Azure provides data archiving and backup, whereas AWS provides on data archiving.

3) Locations

While using cloud services, location is very important. The important thing is choosing a nearby datacenters so that it can be easily accessed. For amazon it is known as Availability zone, azure is Azure Regions and for Google is Cloud Locations. While selecting a cloud service, keep in mind the cost is different for different locations.

4) Scaling

Based on scaling, all the cloud service providers provide auto scaling option based on the demands and number of user accessing it at the same time. All provides load balancing options so that traffic gets equally distributed among the servers.

5) Pricing

The pricing is actually based on the what type of services you are availing and what is the compute power you need for your organization. On overall basis, if we compare these three service providers based on simple facilities, AWS is little higher than azure and GCS.

6) Databases

Database Management System is another important feature you need to check for your organization. Azure Provides DocumentDB, whereas Amazon provides DynamoDB and Google provides Cloud Bigtable Cloud Datastore.

So, based on your business requirement for your migration I would suggest you to go with Amazon Web Services. It provides Disaster recovery which other service providers will not provide. So in case any disaster happens AWS promise to recover your data for that reason they claim they provide 99.999999999 % data availability and durability. So I would suggest that choosing AWS will be a good option.
