Question
2.) Consider an RL series circuit. R is still 881 ? and you measure L to be 773 mH. You again set the signal generator output to produce a sinusouidal output with an amplitude of 1.85 V.
i) At what frequency will XL equal R?
ii) What will the voltage across the inductor be at this frequency?
We use the compound signal described above.
iii) Answer the following: What will the ratio of the amplitude of the voltage across the resistor due to the 49.1 Hz component of the signal to that of the 779 Hz component?
Explanation / Answer
R=881 ohm
For f=49.1 Hz
Xl1=2*3.14*49.1*773X10^-3=238.47 ohm
Vr1=881*1.85/912.7=1.786V
for f=779 hz
Xl2=2*3.14*779*773X10^-3=3783.52 ohm
Vr2=881*1.85/3884.74=0.419V
Ratio=vr1/vr2=1.786/0.419=4.257
