acceleration = m1-m2)*g/(m1+m2)

acceleration = (5.4-3.1)*9.8/5.4+3.1 = 2.6517 m/s^2


m1g - T = m1*a

T = m1(g-a) = 5.4*(9.8-2.6517) = 38.6 N


tension = 38.6 N

acceleration = 2.6517 m/s^2


s = ut+1/2at^2

s = 0.5*2.6517*1^2 = 1.326 m
