Twitter provides a platform that helps in spreading the message among the followers, very fast. Earlier, the size of the message was 140 characters, now it is doubled. Tweets made at twitter are very powerful in communicating the messages and build a strong engagement level. A business leader can also effectively use it to convey the message and inspire the followers. For this, a business leader has to build followers who are the audience and communicate via tweets that are relevant, loaded with useful & important information and links to the more detailed web page or videos or images. A business leader, creating tweets, creating retweets, using hash tags and tagging followers, helps him to get actively connected, and engaged with the followers. By doing this on a regular basis, replying to the tweets, send by the followers and resolving the troubles faced by the followers, will inspire the followers. Tweets are done on a real time basis and can be done from any platform. It is the strength that brings self confidence when a person being aggrieved, get the quick attention from the leader and get the solutions. It is not that person, but also the entire followers that grow in confidence about the leader and develop the trust.
The frequency of tweets matter, but it must have the relevance. Besides, twitter is a social media platform, hence, a leader must be social with the follower. Talking business every time, does not help, rather it is the connectivity building with the followers and encouraging them with the timely and relevant tweets that is most important. Retweeting also helps, because it is about the acknowledging others ideas and it only brings confidence among the followers.
Effects on followers can be measured using the Twitter Analytics. It helps to know the metrics such as number of tweet reads, increase in followers, number of retweets and reach of the tweet among the others. It tells that how effective are the tweets.
Some of the best practices using the Twitter are as follows:
1. Use of hash tags created about the main issues
2. Use URL shortners such as Bitly or tiny URL to get more characters to convey the message
3. Use Twitter cards to add additional information such as images and or videos and make tweets to be more appealing
4. Tag people who should be addressed on a daily basis. It is used by adding the tweeter handler.
