You currently are IT support for Richman Investments, a brokerage firm that employs 20 brokers. Each broker has their own client computer and the company has a server that runs Windows Server. Each computer has the same configuration.

In the company there are 20 brokers each with a computer. Each broker has their own client computer and the company has a server that runs Windows Server. Here over the past six months, some Windows updates have caused the computers to freeze leaving the brokers without computers to conduct business. There are certain things we can do which will solve the problem where computers freezes. Some of the things we can do are:
a) Restart the computer, check whether Windows is working properly.
b) If simply restarting the PC does not solve the problem, restart the computer into Safe Mode.
c) In the safe mode install or uninstall any required updates.
d) You can perform a complete system restore to undo the changes completely by uninstallation of the Windows updates and going back to the good configuration.
e) Start the automatic repair of the computer.
f) Test the computer's memory and Update the BIOS.
You cannot really 100% ensure that the Windows updates will not cause usability issues. Things maybe different for different computer. Now if all the computers are using the same configuration, the same OS, and the same software then the updates should be installed on one system, checked for any issues and then installed to other systems. This way the problem can be prevented.
