As said in the question, the advancement in technology and Information Science has taken all the sectors by storm. Like every professional field, the justice field has been impacted by the development and advancement of technology. But here obviously have been challenges in incorporating these technologies and making them work. The 2 most common challenges that the justice agencies face are going to be:
funding the added technology
getting the practitioners “buy in” to the new technology
Now as the justice agencies are impacted by the advancement of technologies, the money required to be put in for funding the added technology is great and huge money is required to phase out some existing technology and incorporate some newer technologies. Thus, funding the added technology is a problem. Also the practitioners “buy in” to the new technology is not that great at first and much effort has to be put to do the same. Practitioners will not just buy the technology if they deem their current technology is ok and doing the job, we have to provide the efficient and cost effective system such that the practitioners “buy in” to the new technology and use it. Thus these 2 are interrelated as if the practitioners do not buy in then we cannot fund the technology. Getting the practitioners “buy in” to the new technology is more important and challenging than the other as funds will automatically be added once people keep buying.
