Question

you have been the system administrator at east coast career college for the past year and have created many users and group account. because you know that all users must have a unique UID, you have always allowed karnel to assign the next available UID automatically when creating a new user account.

The IT manager thinks it would be beneficial for the network to have a list of UID and to track these UID with the actual user. The IT manager also want you to start assigning UID manually. Research the benefit of assigning UID manually instead of automatically. Decider which method works best for the openSUSE computer at east coast college and explain.

Explanation / Answer

Answer:

so as for the above scenario it is clear that the every user which is present the college will be having a unique user id which is said to be UID = Unique User ID.

So as the IT manager wants to change the system little bit from the previous system where the id is given automatically. Instead, he wants to assign the id manually. I think there is no such difference in assigning id manually or automated. But when you assign the id manually you get to verify all the document manually and you get to know what id you have given to the particular student because you have manually assigned the id to the user.

But there are some flows to the manually generated id. as these the generated by the user so there are chances that sometimes in a while you can do a mistake and you can assign the same id to two different students and this process involves a person to do this task. where if you use automatically id than there will not be this kind of things.

so I would prefer automated id rather than the manual id.
