The transmitting way, The signal(position information) goes the drone directly or not(it goes via satelites or something)?Explanation / Answer
Let say that you have acquired your position (co-ordinates) from the GPS in your cell phone.
Now, to send the GPS co-ordinates to the drone, the following can be used:
1. If the drone is flying near to the cellphone (say distance between your cellphone and drone is < 100 feet), you can use wi-fi (2.4 gigahertz spectrum) in your cell phone to communicate with the drone without need of any satellite communication. The cost invloved is also very less. The drone should have embedded with wi-fi receiver to recieve data from source.
2. If the drone is very far from the source(in your case, Cell phone), then the best way is through internet. For this, the drone should be connected to internet (Drone should be embedded with some hardware to access internet) and a small application should be running in the drone to receive the data from internet. This is Internet of Things.
3. There are other methods, where the cost involvement is very high, like setting your own radio network (You need to setup your own network. Should have antennas, towers, etc.) or is through satellite communication (4G or 5G LTE networks.)
