Humans by their very nature are social beings. We interact with people to collaborate on projects, coordinate events, and to simply just have fun. Much of our communication with others tends to happen in an educational setting, in a workplace, or at a family or friend related event. Communication technology has changed how those settings are now defined.

As our lives become busy and increasingly more hectic, being able to satisfy the appetite for human interaction changes. We find that we are not always in the traditional settings of the classroom, office, or social gathering. Therefore, it becomes extremely important to understand how hardware, software and communication technologies work together to not only help us interact with others, but to also increase the productivity and efficiency of what we do both personally and professionally.

Respond to each of the following in a discussion post:

2. List hardware, software, and other applications that you use or could be used to communicate and collaborate with others in a class, in a workplace, and social gathering. Write at least five sentences with specific examples of hardware, software, and applications. ( at least 5 sentences)

3. How would you use these type of hardware, software, and communication technologies to your advantage in order to increase the productivity and efficiency of what you do either personally or professionally? Write at least four sentences. ( at least 4 sentences)

Ans 1-
Technology has changed the way we communicate with each other.
a) Classmates - Classmates in past used to talk personally and that helped them to get a better understanding on each other. They can understand each others mood and emotions. They can form stronger friendship because they interact each other personally. With the advent of new software technologies like tablets, PDAs and smartphones etc, the communication is rather being done using chat applications like whats@app, messenger and other chat applications. Classmates no longer believe in forming friends group in real life but they believe to make friend groups in whats@app or facebook etc. This way of communication is not bad all the time. Sometimes, a person in chat group can share important news which gets broadcasted to everyone and the important information gets shared in very less time.

b) Work Associate - Work Associates too believe in virtual communication using various chating apps and messaging apps. The apps have given them luxary to sit at one place and send instant message from the person sitting at remote location. Work associates too have limited the in-person communication. This leads to lack of understanding amoung the team members. Nobody in the team would know closely to other team member. This could lead to a poorly performing team. Also, this would not help working associates to build their presentation skills as well as their behaviourial skills.

c) Family and Friends- The new technolgies have changed the way we interact with our friends and family as well. Now a days, we prefer making a video call to our family rather then visiting them in-person. In festivals or occassions as well, we would prefer to share our greeting through calls or chats. We are forgetting that we are social and we need to interact people in person rather then through apps.

Ans 2-
a) whats@app software- Its a chatting application that I use to send instant messages to my friends.
b) Messenger software- I use this app to send messages who are far from me and I dont have their mobile numbers
c) Hike software- It is another instant messages software.
d) Skype - It is a video calling app that can be used to talk to our loved ones live.
e) Google Duo - It is also a video calling app.

Ans 3- The emerging ways of communication can help us increase productivity in below ways-
a) An organization want to develop an application in short duration of time and the devlopers who can develope that application are located in different part of country. Also, the product can be built only by active collboration. In that case the devlopers can form a whats@app group to chat and share the project status on time to time basis. They can schedule live meeting etc through chats.
b) If a teacher is not well today and want to teach something very important to the children that can help them get good marks in exam. The teacher can use on of the instant messaging app to teach the children.
