The operations manager oversees the daily operations of an organization. While the actual duties vary based on the size of the company and the industry, all operations managers monitor the day-to-day activities of the staff and outside transactions, such as deliveries and event planning, to ensure good productivity and to address any problems that may arise.An operations manager is in charge of directing the company's daily activities for the benefit of employees, management, investors and customers. This requires organizing and synchronizing the activities of various managers and departments within a company and making sure the schedules, meetings and goals of each department work in harmony
Operations management focuses on carefully managing the processes to produce and distribute products and services. Major, overall activities often include product creation, development, production and distribution. (These activities are also associated with Product and Service Management.) Related activities include managing purchases, inventory control, quality control, storage, logistics and evaluations of processes. A great deal of focus is on efficiency and effectiveness of processes. Therefore, operations management often includes substantial measurement and analysis of internal processes.
