*What are some important issues a project specification should address?
*You might find outside references about project management and software engineering helpful. If you use them, please cite them.
Explanation / Answer
Answer:
This is especially helpful for businesses that cannot afford the same amount of
hardware and storage space as a bigger company. Small companies can store their
information in the cloud, removing the cost of purchasing and storing memory devices.
Additionally, because you only need to buy the amount of storage space you will use, a
business can purchase more space or reduce their subscription as their business grows or as
they find they need less storage space. One requirement is that you need to have an internet
connection in order to access the cloud. This means that if you want to look at a specific
document you have housed in the cloud, you must first establish an internet connection
either through a wireless or wired internet or a mobile broadband connection. The benefit is
that you can access that same document from wherever you are with any device that can
access the internet. These devices could be a desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone.
IaaS covers a wide range of features, from individual servers, to private networks,
disk drives, various long term storage devices as well as email servers, domain name servers
as well as messaging systems. All of these can be provisioned on demand and often include
software license fees for operating systems and associated software installed on the servers.
Organisations can build a complete computing infrastructure using IaaS on demand.
In the PaaS model, cloud providers deliver a computing platform typically including
operating system, programming language execution environment, database, and web
server. Application developers can develop and run their software solutions on a cloud
platform without the cost and complexity of buying and managing the underlying hardware
and software layers. With some PaaS offers, the underlying computer and storage resources
scale automatically to match application demand such that cloud user does not have to
allocate resources manually.
What makes a cloud application different from other applications is its elasticity. This
can be achieved by cloning tasks onto multiple virtual machines at run-time to meet the
changing work demand. Load balancers distribute the work over the set of virtual machines.
This process is inconspicuous to the cloud user who sees only a single access point. To
accommodate a large number of cloud users, cloud applications can be multitenant, that is,
any machine serves more than one cloud user organization. It is common to refer to special
types of cloud based application software with a similar naming convention: desktop as a
service, business process as a service, test environment as a service, communication as a
service.
The proposed method standardization of individual architectural building blocks
within business architecture, application architecture, data architecture, and technology
architecture. For each of the four architectures, we need to create unied interfaces and
protocols to exchange information. The semantics of the exchanged information and data
structure also needs to be standardized to build an interoperable ecosystem for cloud
computing. The Open Group has published its SOA Reference Architecture Standard and is
currently working on a Cloud Computing Reference Architecture Standard. It is noted that
open source stacks of cloud computing could potentially become default standards once
they are widely used in various solutions.
