CASE tools are used by software project managers, analysts, developers and testers to develop a software system. The goal of introducing CASE tools is the reduction of the time and cost of software development and the enhancement of the quality of the systems developed.

A CASE environment facilitates the automation of the step-by-step methodologies for software development. These tools can CASE can also serve as a repository for project-related documents like business plans, requirements and design specifications.

Case tools are classified as beloow:

Upper CASE tool :Support analysis and design phases. Upper CASE tools are used in planning, analysis and design stages of SDLC.
