Q.2

Ans. -  Three differences between Japenes and Western Business culture are -

1.) Delegation of Authority

In western companies they believe in delegating the authority to subordinates, so that they can take the decisions which make the process fast but also increases the chances of error which definately affects on the quality of the product.

Whereas in Japenese culture they adopt the conservative approach, in very rare cases they delegate the authority, which results in slowness of process but it is quality centric approach.

2.) Risk

Westerns Companies are very much believes inn risk taking, if they see the probability of happening any event as 50-70%, they will chose to procees

but in Japenese culture when they will get sure about it, then only they will go for it.

3.) Flexibility

In western compnaies they have more flexibilites, in there workflow and achieving the goals as they are goal centric they don't care how you achieve it, they just want to achieve it. For ex- If they want to earn certain portion of market share, they will target that no matter how

In case of Japenese culture the case is vice versa, they also focuses on the process flow, so in comparitive they are more accuracy or quality centric.

Q.3

Ans. -  Three examples of Muda waste are -

a.) Transportation

Too much handling and transportation can cause the risk of its lost, theft or damage etc which can cause its cost and if a product is moving a lot in transportation it is wasting more time before getting to the end user which is increasing its cost. For ex - suppose Someone order a product on Amazon and delivery team is waiting for more orders from that area so that they can deliver all of the to deliver at once or team is choosing several delivery modes to delivery.

b.) Overproduction

Over production of any item can be a waste or a big fat lost for a company as the taste or deamand of consumer varies time to time. For ex - A cellphone company makes many units if single product with the hope of long lasting constant demand, but it is the era of revolution and changes in smartphone market with too many competitors which can bring a loss for the company.

c.) Waiting

If a product or raw material is spending too much time in waiting mode, it will increase the cost of company and the vulnerability of getting damage to the company, because of which company will bear another cost of keeping it safe. For ex - a pakaged food company manufactures the product with excessive quantiity, but its product is spending too much time in waiting mode which has arises the tension for company as there limited life is getting over and they going towards their expiry date.

Q.4

Ans. - Three out of 14 Toyota Principles I found difficult are -

a.) Make decisions slowly by consensus, thoroughly considering all options and then implement rapidly.

As American companies believe in taking risk and work on hard paths, it is hard for them to follow this rule because it doesn't match their working style as they focuses on achieving the goals not the way how to do it.

b.) Build a culture of ‘stopping to fix problems’ to get quality right

It has seen many times that American companies are known for their agressive strategies which focuses on achieving goals by hook or crook, they believe in achieving in the objective not matter how, if any process with error is giving them progress they will stuck to that process.

c.)  Respect your extended network of partners & suppliers by challenging them and helping them improve.

- Americans firms are very much consious about there goals, they don't have any specific relation or feeling for their counterparts, if any supplier or parallel firm fails to provide the service they will not hesitate to replace them, they just need to get their work done.
