I have been working on a very large project for a few years now and have been exposed to a few project management styles. Sometimes I would see project managers who used some of the project artifacts that we discuss here in class as strictly an academic exercise. However, recently I have seen how some artifacts can be actually useful to moving a project forward. More on that later in this week's discussion...

In your own words, please identify and discuss some of the problems or dangers in using project networks. Under what circumstances do you believe they are beneficial, and when can they be dangerous?
You may use a case example to illustrate your point.

Explanation / Answer

The major complex thing is that project may make networks meaningless. It takes over several years for making traditional network diagram to use. Another one is that information in the network may be sometimmes incorrect, this leads to errors.When there are multiple sub-contractors are employed,then Caution must be taken. Otherwise independent networks will exist and these networks may conflict. Finally optimism may create faulty network. Networks generally represents what needs to be done, but in the implementing process it affects other activities within the project.
