Wendy’s has approved a policy to address discrimination in the workplace. Examples of possible discrimination topics include gender, racial, religious, or age discrimination.
select either a defensive or offensive communication strategy, or you may choose an approach that utilizes a combination of these strategies.
Examples of Corporate Communication Strategies;
a) Defensive strategies: These are communications that tend to be reactive, with information transmitted after something has happened. Often this is in
reaction to “bad” news, and the resulting publicity causes a response. It can also be undertaken when a corporation simply does not want to be
perceived as generating publicity about an event. By way of example, a corporation may have made a donation to a particular charity or provided help
during a disaster, but it does not want to be perceived as trying to generate favorable publicity. However, due to increased publicity, it “reluctantly” has to
confirm its action.
b) Offensive strategies: These are communications that are usually proactive, with information transmitted before the media has reported an event or even
before something has occurred. This can be to pre-empt bad publicity over something that has happened, or to make an announcement about an issue
or event that will reflect favorably on the corporation.

Answer-a
This is very sensitive topic and requires communication to be dealt in very measurable, cautious and motivation way that should not arouse any stakeholder's emotion as well as any stakeholder left offended on the policy. The communication done to the stakeholder regarding this policy should be offensive strategy and need to be informational in nature. This will help to put checks on stakeholders doing discrimination and victims would be safe guarded. The policy information should go through common channel to all stakeholders such Mail systems, cafeteria hoarding walls, display at common assembly place, common corporate media communication channel such corporate website, company's social media accounts.

The intended target audience is employees and management as these are the people who are running the business and policy is made to have check on their behaviour, attitude, work place approach. Board of Directors, Investors as well as shareholder though they are not directly involved in the business operation hence are not the target audience but are also covered in such organisational policy.
Answer-c:-
The draft communication should include the policy statement, the policy owners and contact details as well as the stakeholders who are under policy coverage. Policy objective statement such as "Wendy promote work environment conducive to work for all gender, race and age and doesn't promote or tolerate any level of discrimination at work place. Any issues or concern reported would be dealt seriously with legal aspect attached to it".
Answer-V:-
This is included in Answer-a.
Also, the alternative strategy would be defensive strategy but it is not utilised in this scenario as it would highlight or give message to stakeholders that it is knee-jerk reaction of organisation and policy being for certain event. This strategy would not put checks to all kinds of discrimination presently going on though policy covers all area. The objective is to cover all level of discrimination and put full stop on such work place actions of all stakeholders.
