Question
Various companies - most famously, Amazon.com - have proposed using drones to deliver packages directly to residences and businesses. Drone technology has, of course, improved dramatically over the past decade, to the point where this proposal might have some potential. You are an engineer at Amazon.com, tasked with understanding the complexities of implementing the plan to use drones for delivery and explaining those complexities to your superiors. You will be given 3 minutes to make an oral presentation and during that time you must convey to them your ideas about the most important next steps to take, in order to implement the plan. You will use the Core-System-Society model in order to understand this situation. Please answer the questions below in a separate document and upload as part of your assignment, as a PDF file. Your answers may include simple lists with explanations, or may be narrative in form, or both.Explanation / Answer
Drone delivery can surely sought out many of our problems but the complexities associated cannot be ignored. Three of our basic concerns will be:
> Delivery Exceution
Drone delivery will need a amazon logo to be scanned by drone eye where they can deliver the product. This means the customers need to place the logo in backyard n then take in back to the house after delivery. What about those living in Flats? Drone delivery aims to ease the delivery. What is we wish to take the delivery during lunch hours at our office?
> Air traffic Concerns
Too many deliveries in a single neighborhood may cause too many drones landing and taking off which can cause too much traffic in the skies and may lead to accidents.
> Is Drone delivery safe?
Drone deliveries are not at all safe, the uncovered propeller blades may result into a mishap. Will drone function that same in case of rain/thunder lightining and cyclones, the non intellectual device will work as per functions it is programmed for and won't be able to detect such cases.
Complexities of using Drone for Delivery:
1. Lifting consignments into air takes a lot of energy. It wont be feasible for drones to lift everything. what about heavy electronics or sports/fitness goods?
2. Drone can deliver within a limited area, It cant go everywhere. Drones cannot fly above a particular height.
3. Drone delivery will increase the probability of theft. Many would even steal the drone itself. :P
4. Drones can be vulnerable and easily exploited which would compromise the package, drone and customer satisfaction.
5. Drones can deliver everything, a very high number of drones will be required for delivery and pilots to monitor it.
6. Drone accidents can happen which would result in loss of product and drone loss or repair.
The big thing in drone delivery is: Customers might not actually want it.
