Explanation / Answer

Answer

Packaging Design:- The purpose of packaging design is to attract customers/consumers. So the design of packing of a product is to ensure that it attracts the customer, influence the customer, easy to handle by the customer, lowest cost for the manufacturer, easy for packaging and transportation, modern and fashionable look, overall a positive package for customers. Packaging is being used as a means of marketing the product. This marketing by packaging design can influence the customers and adds an increase in the product sale in the consumer market.

Ans (a)

The design of cup used in selling the drinks at fast food restaurant is wider at the top than bottom: The reason for this design is to show the larger quantity of cold drink to the customer and try to influence the customer by showing the large quantity of drink with this design of the cup. By having the wider top, it means the larger visible area to the customer. By reducing the bottom of cup, it means lowering the quantity of the drink by reducing the diameter of the cup at the bottom. So the manufacturer is showing larger area at the top, by wider top, and saving drink quantity by reducing the area at bottom.

The books are rectangular and not rounded or trapezoid shape: Because the book contains pages and repeat things needs to be written on each page. So rectangular shape is the best shape for multiple writing works. It will optimize the area for the work. The area of each page can be used optimally. In round or trapezoidal shape, the area utilization will not be optimized and there will be wastage of papers. The rectangular shape will be best option for packaging in one group, but it will be difficult in round or trapezoidal shape.

Many Toys sold unassembled: because it will show large number of toy parts to the customer. And this large number of parts will help the seller to convince the customer that they are giving large number of parts for the price they are charging to the customer. So indirectly they want to convince the customer on that the price they are charging is genuine. By looking large quantity of parts, the customer will be convinced and ready to pay the price asked by the seller.

Ans (2) : Yes, the packaging design of many products has changed, since we started using them like toothpaste, juice containers, snack packages. The packaging design of these products changed in the way of reducing the quantity of the product, so that the manufacturer gets the benefit. Design changed by revising the shape of packaging so that it looks more attractive and impressive, so it attracts more customers. There is reduction in size of the packaging also so that the cost of packaging can be optimized by manufacturer.
