Describe at least two unique threats to a data center posed by disgruntled employees – often referred to as the “insider threat.” Describe how you would identify such people, if possible, and how you would protect your system from these threats.

Explanation / Answer

1. Deletion of data ranges: Deleting of data from specific records by deleting code which corrupts critical system of the company. As Insider has full access on company's networks and systems, if he is terminated from the company, he can remotely attack the systems of organisation by deleting crucial files on servers, by removing backup disks and by deleting company's important information.

2. He can access to the organisation as his credentials has not been disabled within 30 minutes after being terminated. He can use this access to disable CEO's account from accessing the internet and by modifiying files to disable the system.

We can prevent this by disabling his/her credentials before terminating and by monitoring him when he/she is within the organisation.
