Explanation / Answer
My field is SAP Administration. In this field we deal with the different systems which can provide the different business scenarios for ex: CRM for customer relationship, FICO for finance and control etc... Generally we used to setup this system by configuring the required services according to the client requirement. These services and functionality we will be provieded on top of ECC system and Netweaver system's.
ECC and NetWeaver both are systems only but the gui and application layer will be SAP and the database of different types to store the data. The below is the difference and usage of both this systems in an organisation.
NetWeaver System
ECC System
It is an application platform which is an umbrella for many applications like PI, BI, Abap and Java etc... like this
ECC is the enterprise core component which provides all the basic modules of ERP (enterprise resource planning) like FICO, MM, CRM, SRM etc...
Organisation will use this vastly to provide the application level functionalities and other core functions in ERP. Any company which are manufacturing and product based mostly they will use both NetWeaver and ECC also.
This is core system which provides main module functionalities in the organisations. This is also main system in the organisation.
On top of NetWeaver we will add the functionalities as add-on.
But in ECC default it will be having the functionalities we just need to activate or configure those functionalities only.
In this NetWeaver we can install java and abap.
In ECC it already will have both java and Abap systems.
