Deming taught the PDSA (Plan, Do, Study, Act) approach to learning, working, and living, but Garvin's research at Harvard Business school demonstrated the power of the AIA (Acquire, Interpret, Apply) approach to learning, working, and living. Later, studies at West Point developed the AAR (After Action Review) approach to learning, working, and living, which has become dominant in military and government circles. These approaches have obvious similarities, but they are nonetheless fundamentally different. To date, no one has been able to integrate them into a unified and simplified approach.
