Based on your research and the scenario, complete the following tasks: In the last few years, the GUI of an OS has become one of the most important features. In your opinion what is more important—the GUI or other features of an OS? Explain using examples. State the future of computing, including advances in quantum computing, cloud computing, and ubiquitous computing. Mobile OSs are growing in power and popularity. In this regard, answer the following questions: What are some of the limitations that are in place on the current generation of mobile OSs? Will these limitations be overcome in the near future? What characteristics would a new OS need to eclipse Windows in the marketplace? Would this competitive edge be enough to outdo the acceptance of Microsoft?

Opionion on OS
My opinion is that GUI of the OS and features both are playing a important role for a successful OS. However GUI is the one I prefer than the features, because it was the first step of interaction with OS.
If the intial step itself is not satisfying for the users, the addictive features are not going to cover that. Various types of users are there for each OS product. Their requirements may vary according to their field of interest or career, but all the users will look for good GUI, which will make the OS suitable for their interaction.
Hence GUI of the OS is more important than the features.
Example :
Every OS developers will release new features for their product periodically to retain in the compative market, also based on users requirement.
However the developers can't update the GUI of their product periodically, because that directly going to affect the regular way utilizing the OS. If there is some changes in GUI, may the option button changes to some other location in screen, else the short cut key has be modified, then it will difficult of the users to keep on working it, because that are the default working style of particular user, which need to be again set in another pattern.
So it is important to focus more on the GUI of the OS and it needs to be standard one.

Cloud Computing :
It is an type of internet based computing, that will produce shared computer processing resouce and data to computer and other devices connected on the network based on the demand.
Few Advancements in Cloud Computing.

Ubiquitous computing (or "ubicomp") is a term in software engineering and computer science where the computing is made to appear anytime and everywhere. In contrast to traditional desktop computing, ubiquitous computing can occur using any device, inspite of location and format.

1. Capturing of real-time attributes
2. Relies on converging Internet, wireless technology and advanced electronics
3. Totally connected and constantly available computing devices
Limitions of Mobile OS:
There was lot of Mobile os available in the market, like iOS, Android, Bada, Symbian and it has its own short comings, which has to be overcome inorder to retain in the mobile OS market.
1. Few popular apps are availble only to particular OS.
ex. Facetime is exclusive to iOS powered devices.
2. The range of applications can still be expanded .
3. Os like Bada are lacks in application Development.
4. Lack of Ergonomics.
5. Also few of the OS are having unattractive user interfaces.
Will these limitations will be overcome?
Surely it can be overcome in near future, in this modern world mobile technologies unavoidable thing for a general human, in which he relies on day to day activitiies. With sophisticated technologies,talented professionals, these shot comings will be uprooted.
What characteristics would a new OS need to eclipse Windows in the marketplace?
More and more vitual reality (VR) interfaces are the one needed to be advanced in Windows to retain the market. Since it has overwhelming response from the technology users now a days.
Would this competitive edge be enough to outdo the acceptance of Microsoft?
Surely it will because, competitive market is now chasing the VR technology in all the platforms where it can be embedded, the users willing to feel the technology, than just using it.
