Question
The six employees we chose for this project are intrinsically motivated. They like to do the work because how it makes them feel on the inside (Kreitner & Kinicki, 2013) .This project being added to an already stressful work load. The motivation of the team will have to come from within. The team will also be motivated by ensuring they understand the task significance. Painting the picture of the other airlines competition and the need to do well on this project will help them gain the meaningfulness of the work. This will create a high work effectiveness. The Job Characteristic Model allows us to ensure the core job characteristic, critical psychological states, and outcomes are met (Kreitner & Kinicki, 2013). The feedback mechanic will be important to understanding if our approach will work. We know that the team members are dedicated employees with varying skill sets and they will feed off of each other as they get goals and produce outcomes. The rewards can be financial for extrinsic factor. We could set a bonus or have some type of financial gain if the marketing campaign is successful. The other intrinsic reward is the satisfaction of a job well done, and many of the team members will benefit from that. A top down approach will likely not work for this group. The management team will also need to avoid negative reinforcement with this group. This approach will not work because the makeup of this team is highly functioning highly motivated staff and we do not want to take that away. Our goal is to keep this team motivated and focused on the end goal.

A Situation that is similar to what is given in the case:
This holds true for my personality type as I encounter different types of situational leadership requirement in my day to day operational responsibilities. I have three direct reports with whom I work and lead the business challenges and requirements. All three of them are distinguished personality types and I have a deal with them differently. Person A is high talent, possess technical skills, ability to stretch herself in order to achieve her objectives. However, she is not dynamic and flexible to take over ad-hoc business requirements. Person B is moderate in technical skills. But he is a very good people manager and can get things done quickly and is extremely flexible and adaptable to the current business situation. The third person is very dynamic and shall deliver work based on the organizational needs, however, suffers from the innovative thoughts and new creation.
For all these different personalities, my working style is absolutely different and I approach them differently in order to accomplish organizational goals and objectives. With Person A, I do not provide work that is routine or ad-hoc in nature. I assign long-term strategic goals to her which best describes her capabilities and she enjoys delivering the same. On the other hand with Person B & C, I assign ad-hoc objectives that changes based on the organizational dynamics and I see them deliver all of those tasks promptly. Thereby I see effectiveness in my own leadership.
Seldom, this goes the other way around. When Person B or C is not around and I’ve to accomplish one of the most significant immediate client requirements, I really cannot depend on Person A. Even if she picks it up, her prolonged delay in completion of the same results in poor completeness and deliverables as per the client requirement.
My Body language or perception towards such issues is managed through Reinforcing and Regenerative feedback process to all the Persons and I cultivate the style of sharing & learning from others within the team.
