Question
The IT department at General Hospital is deploying a new Single Sign-On (SSO) network authentication solution from Authentic.inc . Instead of having to remember unique pairs of user IDs and passwords for each application that they use, now employees will authenticate only once at the network level to access all applications. This will improve security (one strong password instead of many weak passwords), compliance (everyone will now authenticate correctly), usability and morale. Using the General Hospital SSO network authentication project above, please provide an example of an issue that should be addressed for each type of feasibility typed typically addressed in a baseline project.
Explanation / Answer
The objective is to analyze the various feasiblities for the SSO that was developed in the General hospital. The notorious information in the project is, it requires only single time login with strong password, instead of multiple weak passwords for each and every applications.
The types of feasiblities to analyze are
Technical Feasiblity : It will analyze the technical resource available for the project.
For the above project, since it was SSO, there is need of strong server with high security, because the single password can unlock all the application for the user, and it needs to be maintained with zero fall. And strong man power are required to maintained the server with zero fall.
Economical Feasiblity : It looks for the financial objective of the project.
The above project will be an economical solution, since there is no need of lot of updates and maintainance, because the SSO will reduce the number of verification process for various application and no need of large data space to include the username and password of each application. So the maintanence cost factor will be lowered.
Operational Feasiblity : It will analyze how the users are taking this solution, how well they are benefitted from it.
Since it reduce burden of signing in for various application it was an convenient choice for the users, and they don't need to remember multiple login info, rather they will memorize only the master login, required on SSO. Also easy for the admins to maintain the data in servers, which is an high impact.
Schedule Feasiblity : It runs based on the dead line assigned for the project.
Since it doesn't require to gather the user info completely new, they can access the data from previous login info and it will reduce the overload. Also the schedule feasiblity was highly dependant on manpower and the economical status assigned for the project.
