* Imagining yourself to be viewing the company's product or service through the eyes of the customer, construct a House of Quality to provide the organization with your perspectives on what the important dimensions of quality are and how well the organization is currently meeting your needs.
* Develop a SPC checklist for each dimension of the product that you believe would be subject to statistical control.
* Evaluate the product using the five-step plan that is associated with the Kaizen philosophy.
* Propose what elements of the production and delivery of the product or service would be subject to benchmarking and how you would identify those organizations to which comparisons could be made in a benchmarking process.
Explanation / Answer

Question (1b): Develop a SPC checklist for each dimension of the product that you believe would be subject to statistical control.
Answer (1b): The SPC is a Statistical Process Control. The SPC is applied on the parameters which are required to be ensured to be manufactured within the specification limits. This SPC is applied for the important parameters of product design and manufacturing process of the Nikon product, to ensure that the important product parameters are controlled properly in the manufacturing process. Or to ensure that the manufacturing processes are capable of producing the important parameters within the specification limit
For making the checklist for SPC parameters : Generally the SPC parameter list is the parameters which falls under the following category:
· Critical Parametrs : Very critical for obtaining the performance of the product
· Major Parameters : Very important parameters with respect to the fitment/assembly of the product.
· Other Parameters : Very important parameters for the aesthetic view/ form point of view.
The SPC list will capture all the parameters of the product design and manufacturing process as per their criticality, major and other important parameters for the specific product.
Question (1C): * Evaluate the product using the five-step plan that is associated with the Kaizen philosophy.
Answer (1C): The product evaluation can be carried with below evaluation plan. The Product evaluation plan is made of below elements as below:
1. Pass in quality inspection/metallurgical investigation of the product
2. Pass in Engineering functional approval tests
3. Pass in Customer functional approval tests
4. Pass in field reliability/durability tests
5. Pass in benchmarking with competitive products in the similar market
The above test plans are helpful in evaluating the product and its performance.
Question (1d)* Propose what elements of the production and delivery of the product or service would be subject to benchmarking and how you would identify those organizations to which comparisons could be made in a benchmarking process
Answer (1d) : Production elements : We need to identify the parameters which are essential for the production process point of view. For the production process, we need to identify all the critical, major and important parameters to be identified for the product process. This parameters will be helpful and essential in manufacturing the product in the production line.
Product/service delivery elements: These are elements needs to be work out which are essential for the product /service delivery to the customer. It may involve the product quantity, product packaging, logistics, dispatch details etc. these process and their parameters can be worked out.
The inclusion of parameters will be on the basis of their cost and lead time in the manufacturing the product in the process.
Benchmarking Process : - The benchmarking is the process of reviewing the similar process or product for competitive analysis and identified the best practices being used by other competitors/ benchmarked player, so that the current product or process of the organization can be improved.
We need to select the organization as below
