Question

If a use case diagram is modified due to a design omission, which diagrams would need to be revisited and potentially revised? During the design of interaction diagrams, if a missing actor is identified, which diagrams would need to be revisited and potentially revised? How important is it to keep the analysis models updated when changes are made to design models? This is an interesting question particularly in the context of Agile development. If analysis models are used to document business requirements decisions, how important is it to keep them current, especially prior to user acceptance testing?

Explanation / Answer

If a use case diagram is modified due to a design omission then class diagrams and their relationship have to be modified. New classes may have to be created to incorporate the design changes.

if a missing actor is identified then sequence diagram has to be modified as these diagram represent the flow of the process.

How important is it to keep the analysis models updated when changes are made to design models. Ideally the design model will be developed based on the analysis models in the Agile/OOA&D paradigm. The design models are any one of the system architecture, component model , interface models and data structure. Also the analysis models are the base for creating the Test plan and test cases of any project. Hence the user acceptance testing/test cases are based on the business requirement document which is developed based on the analysis models.
