Question

You are designing an automatic car - it drives itself. After turning a corner on a busy street at 15 Miles / hour, it comes across a crossing guard which is allowing students to cross the street. It is too close to stop without striking anychildren. If it veers off the road it will likely hit a tree. In this scenario, there is no possibility that someone will not be seriously injured. What action do you program for the car and why? You may make your own assumptions but must state your assumptions.

Explanation / Answer

First of all the car is automatic ,hence there will be no driver in it who get hurt .So in order to save children from being hurt it is better to hit car in tree.It will save children from being hurt and everyone will be save.

Secondly if there is a driver and the car was going to hit children then it is good to hit car in tree because logically the age of driver will be more than the age of children and the driver have more immunity to overcome the accident in comparison to children.

lets take a case there is a driver in car and of same age as of children in street , still allow the car to hit tree will be a better option because there are facilities in car like air bag and seat belt which prevents driver from serious injuries but if a car hit anyone on street there will be some serious injury to the victim.
