Explanation / Answer

Mango database is an interactive online language learning system. The focus is on conversational skills that you learn at your own pace. There are now 70 languages to choose from. Mango language lessons focus on conversational proficiency and cultural understanding to develop real-world communication skills. The learning model is based on breaking down and building up. For example, a sentence will be presented, then Mango goes back and teaches the words, then comes back to the sentence. When the sentence is mastered the lesson incorporates it into a phrase, and the cycle continues.

There is a simple registration for login purposes. Once in the site, users select a language, for example Spanish, English, French, Italian, German, Japanese, American Sign Language, and so on. Within each language the user selects an area of interest. Subjects for language learning include: conversation, legal, medical, romance, text talk and video selections that have features optimizing language learning (subtitles, tracks, and replay). Lessons are presented in units with as many as 50 lessons in a unit. The lessons teach words and sentences that would be used in a conversation. A narrator presents the information, and the user has time to learn and practice. There is a test at the end of each lesson. The lessons can also teach grammar, pronunciation, and writing. With the login feature users can stop and start lessons and work at their own pace.
