Question

If you were (or are) a supervisor, how do you think your employees would describe your leadership style? Do you think you always display one style, or go between two or more? Do you consider your style appropriate to all situations?

Which of the theories of motivation was “your favorite”? What is it about that particular theory that appeals to you?

In the same scenario as above, list five (5) questions that would be in violation of employment law. Follow each question with the law it would violate.

Explanation / Answer

there are different styles of leadership models for studies, but when it comes to practicality, people follow different approaches at work place, but not stick on to one approach of leadership. they modify their approach based on the time, based on the nature of the people them lead, the kind of work they do and the mental status of their own. if i were the manager, i follow different strategies to lead my team. when i met lazy people, my voice becomes strong and i assign targets them. when i met good workers, i just congratulate them to their contribution, when i met new comers who are newly joined workers, i encourage them and if they face any problems on the work or off the work, i just guide them.

so, i follow different approaches based on the people and their nature. some times i may follow autocratic style also. so, in tough situations, i chose a method where i chose a different method in easy situations. but i do not stick my self with one method of leadership.

the various styles of motivation are- Hergberg two factory theory, ERG theory, Maslow need hierarchy theory, theory X and theory Y and so on.

i prfers two factor theory at my work place. because i believes that every worker is a good worker, if we provide the basic inputs and the motivational factors to those, they can perform well. and personally i believes the two factor theory. the hygiene factors are those basic inputs which create a good work environment to the people. along with these, the organization must provide some incentives and motivational factors to do better at work.

the violation of employment law includes:

1. not following equality among the people, the one who work more they get high pay and recognition.

2. huge discrimination among the workers based on their abilities, where discrimination is not accepted in work place.

3. equal treatment of all is absent, where the good performers always treat better and others are not. it is against of equal justice at work place.

4. it spreads negative discrimination among the workers.

5 it inculcates stress environment at work place, which is not good for organizations.
