Internet Content Filters on Computers
Some schools and libraries use Internet content filters to prohibit users from accessing undesirable Web sites. These filters are designed to protect individuals, yet some claim it is a violation of their freedom.
What are your opinions about Internet content filters? Do they provide protection for users, or are they a hindrance? Who should be responsible for determining which sites are appropriate and which are inappropriate? What punishments should be enacted against individuals who circumvent these filters
Explanation / Answer
My Opinions regarding Internet Content filters are
Internet Content Filtering, sometimes helpful to childerns and young people in which it will block the sites which contain indecent content. There are software tools available which can help filter the sites which are not helpful for childern, monitor the childrens online activities and limit the amount of time spends online. But these software tools are not foolproof.Security will not be there.
Parents guidance should be there while childerns surfing the internet.
It will also intefere in the rights for children.
Parents should take responsible to use the right sites.
Some filters are there which assist parents and teachers to protect children from range of internet dangers as well as blocking obscene webpages.
Parents who have technical assistance in protecting there children should install filtering software and configure it to suit there family needs.
Instead of punishing, parents and teachers should be responsible for the children because internet filters are useful and helpful for those who use correctly
