Question
3 points Save Answer Question 21 Polar Industries has a zero tolerance policy for discrimination based on race, color, gender, national origin, religion or sexual orientation. The policy also states that employees will treat each other with respect without regard to race, color, gender, national origin, religion or sexual orientation. Estelle works for Polar and her supervisor puts her on a project team with four other co-workers, including Marty, an openly gay man. Estelle is a devote fundamentalist Christian and she believes that homosexuality is immoral. She refuses to communicate with Marty or work with him. She refuses to participate in meetings when he is in attendance. She believes that acknowledging Marty in any way would be to accept homosexuality, which goes against her religion. As a result, her team is having difficulty completing the project because of Estelle's issues. Polar should a. do nothing because to force Estelle to change her conduct is a form of religious discrimination. -b.revoke its zero tolerance policy. O c. fire Estelle unless she follows Polar's policy and cooperates with her team. d.move Estelle to a department with no gay employees.Explanation / Answer
Answer- C. Fire Estelle unless she follows Polar's policy and cooperates with the team. As the company has zero tolerance for discrimination doing nothing for Estelle's behavior is not possible. Also, the company cannot revoke its policy as this would create a negative and an unfair image of the company. Moving Estelle to another department would mean that the company is showing favoritism by not punishing the employees who are discriminating the people.
