In this digital era of 21st century, when mobile coverage has no longer boundaries, and internet is available across geographical restrictions, Wi-Fi has become an enabler to the digital revolution.
How does it work?
Wi-Fi stands for Wireless Fidelity or IEEE 802.11 networking. As per wi-fi.org, Wi-Fi is wireless LAN, it helps in connecting to internet technology without wire. With the help of the routers and adapters, the internet access can be faster, reliable and cheap. It gives a connectivity up to 20 meters. Through hotspots (the area where Wi-Fi is available, and it can be closed networks) we get connected to Wi-Fi. It uses WPA2(Wi-Fi Protected Access) for security and privacy. The frequencies in which Wi-Fi works are 2.4GHz to 5GHz.
Where does it work?
As per Industry Insights (Jan, 2014), It is most appropriate for household, office, smart homes, transportation vehicles, train platforms, airports, hospitals, restaurants, and café. It has become very important in coffee houses as many official meetings are conducted and for uninterrupted network connections, free Wi-Fi is provided.
