After retiring as an Olympic athlete at the age of 35, and only working at promoting your sport and your brand for the past 10 years, you have decided to pursue your lifelong dream of opening your own business with your teammate, who is not retiring for a few years yet. Your business will be focused on commercializing a product you designed that allows for improved blood circulation and exercise during flights. You have an opportunity to apply for seed funding through a local government initiative but you must first complete a 1-2 page elevator speech that addresses the following questions: Why would your business be successful? What ethical concerns should you consider in the establishment of your business? What form of business ownership do you propose and why? Why do you feel you have what it takes to be successful entrepreneurs?

Explanation / Answer

We all take flights within and outside the country and the flights are either short, medium or of long haul. One thing that remains constant is that we all remain captive to our seats save for an occasional visit to the washroom. Sitting in a cramped posture for long durations causes dehydration and muscle strain. The passengers have only one remedy to save themselves is by drinking adequate amount of liquid and do some walks between the aisles This is also a limited opportunity as generally the flights are full and more people means less resources at disposal and even less space for walk.

With my long experience as an Olympic athlete, I have designed a product that allows for improved blood circulation and some light exercise on board an aircraft. The product will be a boon for travelers who suffer cramps during flights and will be lapped up by customers in no time.

I am therefore looking for a business partnership venture with one of my friends and for this need seed capital funding from the local government. The business venture will be ethical in nature as it would provide solutions to millions of travelers every year who suffer cramps and muscle strain at the end of the flight.

I have designed a product that nobody has yet introduced and therefore I am extremely confident of grand success of this venture and establishing myself in the coming years as one of the successful entrepreneurs in the country.
