Question

Tuition Reimbursement Program Announcement

Employees often write informative messages to managers and co-workers. As the newest member of the HR Department at Bronco Jeans, you have been asked to create a message notifying all employees of a new educational reimbursement program. It will be sent as an email by the head of HR, and she has asked you to create the message and subject line only.

Case:

Management at Bronco Jeans has decided to encourage employees to take courses by reimbursing each eligible employee a maximum of $10,000 in tuition and fees during every calendar year. Anyone who wants to participate in the program must apply before the first-class meeting; the application must be signed by the employee’s immediate supervisor. The office of Human Resources will evaluate applications. The office has applications forms; they can be picked up in person or printed from the HR website. Application forms have to be signed and turned in. The HR office also has catalogs nearby schools and colleges. After the completed form is submitted, the HR office will notify the employee if it was OK via email. The employee must complete this process before starting classes.

The only courses an employee may choose are those either related to his/her current position, a position in the company he/she might hold someday, or a part of a job-related degree program. The courses must help his/her current position or qualify him/her for a promotion or transfer in Bronco Jeans.

Only tuition and fees are covered, not books or supplies. People whose applications are approved will be reimbursed when they have completed the course with a grade of C or better. An employee cannot be reimbursed until he or she submits a second copy of the approved application, an official grade report, and a statement of the tuition paid all back to the HR office in paper form. The company will pay tuition and fees up to $10,000 each year. It will take 4-6 weeks for the claim to be processed and appear in the person’s paycheck. The proceeds are not taxable and will appear as the reimbursement item on the paycheck stub.

Part-time employees are not eligible; full-time employees must work at the company three months before they can apply to participate in the program. Courses nay be at any appropriate level (high school, college, graduate school, trade, or vocational school).

The HR office can be contacted at Bronco Jeans, HR office, 123 Bucking Way, SanDiego, CA 88999, 253-583-3839, forms at www.broncojeans.com/hr, email questions to hroffice@broncojeans.com

Explanation / Answer

.

For Rauniar,

Energy partial productivity in 2011 = output /energy = 300000/10000 = 30

Energy partial productivity in 2012 = output /energy = 330000/9000 = 36.66

Thus,

% change in Energy partial productivity = (36.66 – 30) / 30 = 22.2% change

B.

For Rauniar,

Labor partial productivity in 2011 = output /Labor employed = 300000/40000 = 7.5

Labor partial productivity in 2012 = output /Labor employed = 330000/43000 = 7.67

% change in Labor partial productivity = (7.67 – 7.5) / 7.5 = 2.267% change
