Explanation / Answer

Human resources-

In Southwest Airlines about 35,000 employees are employed. About 87 percent of the employees are highly unionized. More interesting but a major weapon for the success of the Southwest Airlines is that even though their employees are greatly unionized but there is not a single strike of the employees in that organization.

Physical resources—location, building, equipment, funding

Headquartered in Dallas, Texas. The TOPS building includes a two-story, 100,000-square-foot operations building that can withstand an EF3 tornado. It also includes a four-story, 392,000-square-foot office and training facility with two levels devoted to each function. The new facilities house 24-hour coordination and maintenance operations, customer support and services, and training. The project was completed in late 2013, with occupancy beginning in 2014. On June 2, 2016, Southwest broke ground on its new training facility known as "Wings." The newest addition to the corporate campus will have more than 400,000 square feet of space and be home to more flight simulators, flight operations training centers.

Each 2017 Southwest Airlines Heart of the Community grant recipient will be eligible to receive up to
$150,000 in total project funding through the Southwest Airlines Foundation, a corporate advised fund of Silicon Valley Community Foundation. The 2017 grant recipients also will receive technical assistance from Project for Public Spaces.

Activities- Southwest Airlines has been operating for 43 years. Remarkably, after 40 consecutive years of profitably, they never rest on their laurels. Like all true customer service champs, Southwest executives and employees are always striving to improve their service, culture, and to create even more loyal customers.

In order to accomplish its vision, Southwest needs every one of its executives, pilots, and employees to work together for a common purpose. A paycheck is usually enough to get most people to work on time, but only an inspiring purpose beyond a paycheck will encourage people to go the extra mile.

Past-

Merger and Acquisition is the very two popular methods of increasing market shares. The Southwest Airlines have the chance to do merger and acquire to increase the market share as well as their capacity of giving services to other cities.

In the previous years they successfully acquired the Morris Air, Muse Air and ATA Airlines.

As on August 13, 2009 Loren Steffy reported a title "Frontier Acquisition: Southwest Comes Out Swinging" Due to bankruptcy of Frontier Airlines the Southwest Airlines are bidding to acquire that.
