Below are 5 components of a successful system/process involved in delivering food and nutrition services to athletes -
1. Quality control - This is the key component in providing food and nutrition services. Quality needs to be maintained at each stage of the processes including raw materials, avoiding any contamination etc. to ensure high quality and healthy product. Any issues with product quality may either lead to ineffective product or food poisoning issues.
2. Ingredient composition - To prepare an effective product which provides the required nutrition, the ingredient composition is critical. It is not only important to identify the right set of ingredients but the quantities and the stages in which they get mixed or added is equally important. This makes the overall recipe of the product.
3. Training - The resources need to be trained and well-equipped to deliver the high quality product and nutirtion services. Timely consumption of food and nutrition are critical for physically and mentally demanding professions.
4. Environment in which food is prepared - Hygiene is key to ensure quality product. Though the ingredients are of high quality, it is also important to ensure the environment in which the food is prepared and services are delivered is free from any kind of extrernal hygiene threats, pollution and contamination.
5. Pricing - Though product quality is critical, the product also needs to be affordable to ensure majority of the people get the quality food and required nutrition. This can be achieved by increasing efficiency of the processes and minimizing the waste. Also, labor productivity is critical to ensure flawless preparation and delivery.
