Question

Suppose that you work for a company that has been using IPv4 in each of its networks. After hearing a discussion about the differences between IPv4 and IPv6, your boss comes to you for advice on whether or not the company should upgrade each of its networks to IPv6. Suggest whether or not your boss should upgrade each network to IPv6. Provide at least two (2) reasons for your suggestion.

Suppose you work for a small company that has three (3) routers in its network design. Determine whether you would use static or dynamic routing to connect the routers. Justify your response with the key benefits that your choice provides.

Explanation / Answer

Hi

Big MNCs & government organisation have started using IPv6 addresses. The limitation with IPv4 is the addresses availabilty , since it is 32 bit address and it will exhaust in coming years then on has to migrate to IPv6 that 128 bit address.currently IPv4 is major in usebut in future you will see the popularity of IPv6 addresses.

as of now we can use the IPv4 addresses in our LAN segment that is easy to assign & can further be migrated into IPv6 adresses easily.

I will prefer to use static Routing Since we have a small network of 3 routers.

Using Static Routing :

Static routing is easy to implement in a small network. Static routes stay the same, which makes them fairly easy to troubleshoot. Static routes do not send update messages and, therefore, require very little overhead.

Static routing has several primary uses, including:
