Importance of Digitalization:
- Digitalization is the way to enter in zone of information technology, as digitalization offer the transformation of traditional way to modern technological way. It will improve the efficiency of business process with new transformed technologies.
- It will change the way tools and equipment used in business and everywhere else. Example: In place of typewriter computer will be used to work more efficiently and faster, mobile will be used instead of telephone to extend reach ability and improve communication.
- Digitalization will broaden the reach of people around the world and will reduce distance between them.
- Technology will realatively reduce the cost using latest technology.
Reason Blockbuster failed:
In the year of 2000 when Founder of Netflix offered CEO of Blockbuster to have partnership in business of entertainment service as Blockbuster has the largest market and retail store which allowed people to rent DVD and CD of movies, CEO of Blockbuster refused to this offer.
As that was the era of being digitalized, Blockbuster relied on traditional DVD renting retail business they failed to retain its business to Netflix which offer online movie streaming through internet and will allow its customer watch anything at anytime and just have to pay when they used service of Netflix. Netflix is flexible compared to Blockbuster who mainly gained from penalties of later submission of DVD from their customers. Blockbuster’s main source of income was from these penalties.
