From Public sector perspective state if you agree/disagree with the statement made and why?

If a manager wants to release an employee, realistically it should be for performance-based reasons. Using poor performance as a justification for termination would appear to be a standard process. If the documentation process is too much for the manager, and preferably they would like to eliminate employees on a whim, that sounds like poor practice and can ultimately lead to an increase in counterproductive work behaviors and a decrease of organizational citizenship behaviors with the rest of employees.

Explanation / Answer

From a public sector perspective, I disagree to the statement due to the below reasons -

1. Employee release in public sector firms involves a set process including documentation and the manager just cannot fire them on will.

2. Public sector employment is credited for its job security where the employees have a greater right to free speech where they can question the management regarding the reasons for their firing.

3. Most of the public sector organizations have employee unions which work for betterment of employees and protest against any kind of unjustified termination of employees from the duties.

4. Organizational citizenship behavior is witnessed in public sector firms where the employees work together for years promoting an individual level relationship and adhere to the processes of the organization.
